Librarian's Role in Textbook Affordability: An Emerging Superpower

This session will cover our approach at leveraging library resources to impact textbook affordability efforts.  Our institution has used LibGuides and learning management systems to replace and supplement textbooks with open educational resources and library resources in several courses within the Communications and Human Services disciplines.  We will discuss how we fostered faculty relationships to build trust for future collaborations on developing course materials.  This session will also cover how we trained faculty how to use LibGuides in order that faculty could take an ownership role in developing and editing their course guide and content.  We will share some of the feedback we received from faculty and students on using the OER and library resources in place of traditional textbooks.
