The Technobus: Miami-Dade Public Library System's Mobile Computer Technology Lab

In today's world of high tech, science and art, access has become an imperative. Access to WiFi, Internet, computers, and instruction are the key to staying connected to information as well as social and professional connectivity. Many of our community's residents cannot visit their local library and may also not have Internet at home or computers. Our library has solved this problem by creating a mobile computer technology lab. This mobile lab bridges the digital divide in high need communities by bringing the library's cutting edge technology programs directly into the community. The mobile tech lab targets at-risk teens in after-school programs, adult job seekers, and seniors who look to learn computer basics and stay connected to the world. The mobile technology lab travels to schools, rehabilitation centers, youth shelters, women's shelters, seniors centers, parks and special events to bring the library's services to those who would most likely never have access to high end technology and instruction.

Marlon Moore, Miami-Dade Public Library System

Marlon Moore is a Miami, Florida native who is passionate about three things: culture, education and youth empowerment. For the past 12 years he has helped thousands of youth and adults become successful using technology and art as a foundation. Moore helps people create life goals, become digitally literate and learn how to actively engage in the world around them in a positive manner.
