Marketing Information Literacy to Faculty: Advertise Your Superpowers!

Academic Librarians offer a wide range of information literacy services to their faculty and students, beyond the reference desk and the traditional one-hour classroom instruction session.  This session will focus on how to effectively market information literacy services (secret superpowers) that faculty may not be aware of.  Some examples of these "new" information literacy services include comprehensive citation instruction, online module creation, assignment development, OER discovery, ACRL framework based instruction, and assessment.  Effective marketing can be achieved via a multi-faceted strategy of using phone, e-mails, print newsletters, course management system mapping, and social media.
